Ahmedabad, Gujarat – The state celebrated for its cultural vibrancy and creative spirit is now emerging as a powerful contributor to the Hindi film industry. At the forefront of this movement stands state’s strong literary voice and producer Umashanker Yadav and his Ahmedabad-based production house SERENE FILMS, bringing together a remarkable team of talents from across Gujarat. Hugely talented Niriksha Kansara, who joined SERENE FILMS in February 2025 as an intern as a student of Journalism and Mass Communication of Gujarat University, has been working tirelessly over ten months now managing all the communications, contracts, contents and PR campaign of the film.
Known as cultural capital of Gujarat, Vadodara has been at the forefront of this film. Leading this creative wave are screen and dialogue writer, director Omkar Pethkar, music director Prajval Pandya, editor Rahul Rajput, and assistant director Viren Tilavat — all proudly hailing from Vadodara. Together, they are shaping a new cinematic ecosystem that positions Gujarat as an exciting hub for Hindi feature filmmaking.
The film has been shot in Uttar Pradesh and post production work is going on mainly in Vadodara and partly in Mumbai. The artists and crews hail from all parts of India which has made it a truly inclusive project of creative talents spread across the country.
The upcoming Hindi feature film ‘Drop Out’, produced under the banner of Serene Films, is spearheaded by producer and writer Umashanker Yadav. The film blends vision, emotion, and realism in storytelling, reflecting the essence of human experience and self-discovery.
The film’s trailer was recently launched at the 10th edition of Ahmedabad International Literature Festival (AILF), where it received warm appreciation from audiences and industry professionals alike.
Recently, producer Umashanker Yadav hosted a Diwali lunch meet that brought together the Omkar Pethkar, Prajval Pandya and Rahul Rajput in a restaurant in Vadodara, where they discussed how more Hindi Films can be produced in Gujarat and how it will help the independent film makers and the limited budget films to get bright talent and cutting-edge technology in shooting and processing the contents. They also in an informal meeting discussed the film’s promotional plans and release strategy. The gathering beautifully reflected the creative synergy and collaborative spirit that define Drop Out in the festive season.
