Following the accidental death of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar in a plane crash on Wednesday, his funeral will be held today, Thursday, in his political stronghold of Baramati. The Maharashtra government has announced a three-day period of state mourning.
Final Journey to Begin at 9 AM Ajit Pawar’s mortal remains are currently being moved from the hospital to his residence in Katewadi, from where his final journey (funeral procession) will commence at 9:00 AM. His last rites will be performed with full state honors at the Vidya Pratishthan grounds at 11:00 AM.
Presence of Veteran Leaders and Tight Security Several senior leaders, including Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, and NCP chief Sharad Pawar, are expected to attend the funeral. Given this VIP movement, tight police security has been deployed in Baramati. Large LED screens have been installed at Vidya Pratishthan for supporters, and the entire area has been decorated with flowers.
Supporters Turn Emotional: Slogans of ‘Long Live Ajit Dada’ A flood of supporters has gathered since Wednesday evening when Ajit Pawar’s mortal remains were kept for public viewing. Slogans of “Ajit Dada Amar Rahe” (Long Live Ajit Dada) and “Ajit Dada Pacha Aavo” (Ajit Dada Come Back) are echoing through the streets of Baramati. Family members, including Parth Pawar and Supriya Sule, have been participating in rituals since early morning. There is a deep sense of distress and grief among supporters, as Maharashtra has lost a highly diligent and dynamic leader.
Investigation and Identification Details A total of five people, including Ajit Pawar, lost their lives in this tragic plane crash. The Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) is currently conducting a forensic investigation into the accident. According to reports, the pilot faced difficulties due to poor visibility. Police identified Ajit Pawar’s body based on his wristwatch and his specific seating position in the aircraft. The pilot Sumit Kapoor, co-pilot Shambhavi Pathak, and other staff members also lost their lives in this incident.
